Butler’s work includes traditional and alternative energy systems on national and global levels, researching and designing whole building systems and guidelines for energy conservation in schools, office complexes, retail facilities, labs and residential buildings.

With her technical expertise and understanding of the changing energy marketplace, Butler delivers effective, efficient and appropriate energy and HVAC solutions tailored to the needs of each client.

Rae H. Butler, principal and owner of Building Energy Solutions, founded her MEP engineering firm in 2002. With over 30 years of experience in mechanical, electrical, plumbing and building systems design, she specializes in solutions for building energy system upgrades and reconstruction, with energy conservation and long term operation as a priority in new and existing buildings. In addition, she also has more than 15 years of experience in commissioning and retro-commissioning.

Before starting Building Energy Solutions, Butler was the Central New York Regional Manager for C-H Energy Group in Poughkeepsie, New York, managing the preparation of feasibility studies, budgeting, estimating and design of HVAC, cogeneration and lighting projects. While at C-H, she managed the installation of projects, commissioning of systems and development of maintenance procedures. Additionally, she was responsible for all operations, savings verifications and maintenance of installed equipment for five years after installation. She operated the branch office independently for six years.
